Trombone Resources

Arnold Jacobs was one of the greatest instrumental Pedagogues of the 20th century.  His students have been my teachers and his research and theories on brass playing are the foundation of my practice. Windsong press is an effort to keep his teaching alive, click to learn more.

tromboneexcerpts.org is a resource I consult frequently. Seth Vatt has created a great guide for audition preparation. Vatt is very active and is releasing new material all the time.

David Werden has aggregated a spreadsheet to provide specifications of comparative mouthpieces. View it now if you are picking new mouthpieces.

Noah Gladstone has you covered for vintage trombones, buying and selling, and consignment. His shop, the Brass Ark, is a great stop on the trombone buying and selling journey.

Last Row Music is a great site for job-searching and head-hunting in the brass world.

Toby Oft's Website is full of great trombone performance examples and ideas to try in your practice. His Rochut Project provides a thoughtful way to approach a set of exercises that is often overlooked.

Brad Edwards has created a great resource for Musicians, especially trombonists. Hit the link below to enter the bonezone!

The composer diversity project is a database of composers that represent diversity designed to help artistic curators locate and engage composers with more diverse backgrounds.

Erik Shinn has made a bibliography of pieces for bass trombone and wind band. Check it out if you have an aspiration of playing solo with the wind ensemble, symphony band, or what have you!

Doug Yeo is an impressive trombonist and music scholar. His site provides a look into what musicians need to become classical low brass players and helps prepare for auditions and navigating the musical landscape as a classical trombonist.

Jay Friedman is the principal trombonist of the Chicago Symphony and a fine conductor of orchestras as well.  His site holds lots of great information for aspiring musicians.

Will Baker has aggregated melodies ranging from popular tunes to orchestral repertoire and written them out in chromatic sequence to engage deep musicianship and knowledge in all 12 keys. Click below for major gians

Julie Landsman has very generously made some online lessons available for studying Carmine Caruso's brilliant method for instrumental playing.
